INSPIRED WORD
June 25, 2008
SCRIPTURE / PRAYER
…words in the song, those are true. It says in Scripture (2 Chronicles 16:9): “ For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” So we say, “Here we are, God, we want our hearts to be fully committed to You. Let Your strength fall upon us that we can be intentional disciples for Your world.”
TONGUES
INTERPRETATON
As I surrendered Myself on the cross, so I ask you to surrender yourselves to My will.
INTERPRETATION
My precious people, you are a holy people. You are called by name; you are called by name into discipleship. Don't say, “I am not big enough, I am not strong enough, I am not smart enough, I am not brave enough, I can't.” It is I Who empower you. You are called by name into discipleship.
INTERPRETATION
As a shepherd gathers his sheep so I gather you. I gather you in this place and I bind your wounds and I nourish you, I feed you, I prepare you. Then I send you forth, but remember a shepherd never leaves his flock. For wherever you go, I go before you. Then I bring you back again and gather you to nourish you, to tend your wounds, to heal those who are sick, to love you that we may go out again and again, with Me leading you, My flock.
INTERPRETATION
I am your Father. Though you may turn your face from Me in anger, I will never turn My face from you. When you wander through the desert searching for water, I am the Water that will give you life.
INTERPRETATION
You go in My love. Wherever you abide, you will abide in My love. Whatever you speak, you speak My love.
SCRIPTURE / PRAYER
In that particular song about surrendering all, I want to read this from St. Paul to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 5: 11 – 21) : “Standing in awe of the Lord we try to persuade men, but what we are is known to God. I hope that it is also known to you in your consciences. We shall not begin to recommend ourselves to you again, but we are giving you an opportunity to boast about us so that you may have something to say to those who take pride in external appearances, and not in what lies in the heart. Indeed, if we are ever caught up out of ourselves, God is the reason; and when we are brought back to our senses, it is for your sakes. The love of Christ impels us who have reached the conviction that since one died for all, all died. He died for all so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for Him Who for their sakes died, and was raised up. Because of this we no longer look on anyone in terms of mere human judgment. If at one time we so regarded Christ, we no longer know Him by this standard. This means that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old order has passed away; now all is new! All this has been done by God, Who has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. I mean that God, in Christ, was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting men's transgressions against them, and that He has entrusted the message of reconciliation to us. This makes us ambassadors for Christ, God as it were appealing through us. We implore you, in Christ's name: be reconciled to God! For our sakes God made Him Who did not know sin to be sin, so that in Him we might become the very holiness of God.” I pray tonight that as we surrender everything we have to Him, we might surrender the evil in our world, the evil that touches us. We, like Christ, have become part of the sinful world. Can we surrender that even to Christ, Who heals that, transforms that, and guides us to be a new creation? For those around us, and wherever we go as His disciples, as His ambassadors, I pray this through Christ. Amen.
