INSPIRED WORD

July 25, 2007

PRAYER

....we look forward now in this place for a Pentecost again... for a new Pentecost, O God, for that new anointing of Your Holy Spirit that drives us forth even more than before! That is what we are praying for, O Holy Spirit of God, that You have Your way, absolutely and positively, in this place among Your people in this church and in the churches represented here. Have Your way, O Spirit of the living God; don't let us stand in Your way! Make us docile and supple; have Your way, have Your way! Let Your fire come down, O God!

PRAYER

When Chuck was just praying, all of a sudden, I just felt something like the wind of the Holy Spirit moving through. It reminded me of the words of a song that I recently heard; the song was called “More”. The first line in that verse is “More, we ask for more, more of Your power and more of Your glory, we are not satisfied, we ask for more.” So in this place here tonight, we ask for more of You, Jesus. We are tired of trying to make our own way, so Father, we ask You to come! Shape us up, Lord, and knock down the idols that are on the altars of our hearts. Lord, we ask that You would be on the throne! We exalt You, Jesus! We exalt You; we lift up the name of Jesus! We thank You, Lord, that where You are exalted and lifted up, Your Spirit comes in power! Father, we ask tonight for signs, miracles and wonders like You did on the day of Pentecost. Father, renew us in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit! Renew us, God, renew our hearts! Lord, we long for You, we long for Your touch, we long for Your Presence; come and overtake us tonight. We ask You for a move of the Holy Spirit like we have never seen before, in this church, in our city, and in our nation!

CONFIRMATION

The confirming Scripture for that prayer is in Acts 4: 29-31: After Peter had been released from prison, he prayed along with all of them present. “And now, Lord, take notice of the threats they have made and allow us Your servants to speak Your message with all boldness, as You reach out Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus. The place where they were gathered shook as they prayed. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the Word of God with boldness.

PRAYER

....renew our Baptism in the Holy Spirit in a deeper way. We need to say this to the Lord, “Lord, have Your way in me, have Your way in my heart. Have Your way in those places that I have pushed you out of in my life. Have Your way in me. Lord God, we have said this before and we are saying it again tonight. There are things that You are not Lord of in our lives; there are things we hold tightly, and Lord, in those things and in all things, have Your way in us. We surrender our lives, our hopes, our aspirations, our plans to You, Jesus. You are Lord, Jesus; be our Lord. We give it over to You! Let Your way be done in us, Jesus!”

EXHORTATION

When you are struggling with the darkness, sometimes you just need to turn on the light. There are times when you just feel so very alone. We are in a war right now and if it is very dark outside and the only light is from the bullets flying and the fires from the bombs, and you are cold, hungry, tired and frightened out of your wits, that is where the Lord is and all you have to do is take one minute and take yourself apart from that and invite Him there. That will turn on the light in the darkness.
